Before Elena could react, Tara grabbed her wrist, Jenna grabbed her backpack, and together they pulled her up from her seat. Her lunch tray clattered to the floor, spilling pasta everywhere. Laughter erupted across the cafeteria as the girls dragged Elena toward the hallway. “No, please stop,” Elena begged, but her voice was drowned out. The girls pushed her through a door.

At first, Elena thought they were taking her outside, but then she realized it was a girls’ bathroom, empty, echoing, lined with cold sinks and bright lights that made everything look harsher. Cassie locked the door behind them. Elena’s stomach twisted. “Why are you doing this? Please, I didn’t do anything.” Cassie circled her like a shark.

“You walk around like you’re better than everyone. Always quiet. Always hiding. It’s annoying.” “I’m not.” “Shut up,” Tara snapped. Jenna stepped forward, pulling something from her purse.

A small electric buzz filled the air. A razor. Elena’s breath stopped. Her knees weakened. “Please,” she whispered, her voice cracking.

“Please don’t.” Cassie grinned. “Relax. It’s just hair.” Tears pooled in Elena’s eyes. “It’s not just hair.”

“Please, you don’t understand.” “Oh, we understand,” Cassie said coldly. “We understand that humiliating you will be fun.” Tara shoved Elena against the sink counter. Jenna grabbed Elena’s arms while Cassie clicked the razor on fully.

The buzzing grew louder. Elena tried to shake free, but she was cornered, trapped, helpless. Cassie grabbed a fistful of Elena’s long black hair. “No, no, please,” Elena cried out, her voice shaking like glass. Cassie pressed the razor to Elena’s scalp.

The first chunk of hair fell into the sink like a dead weight. A strangled sob tore out of Elena’s chest. Cassie laughed. “Look how much came off.” “Girls, record this.”

Jenna pulled out her phone. Tara smirked. More hair slid down. Another swipe, then another. Elena felt each vibration of the razor as if it were cutting through her soul, not her hair.

Her vision blurred with tears. She felt stripped, violated, shattered. “Please stop, please,” she begged through sobs. But they didn’t. They shaved patches first, leaving jagged bald spots, cackling like it was a game.

They mocked her, called her weak, pathetic, worthless. Elena cried silently, staring at the broken reflection in the mirror. When they finally stopped, Elena’s hair was destroyed. Uneven, humiliating, a nightmare. Cassie took the last clump of hair, lifted it like a trophy, and tossed it into the trash.

“Now you look like what you really are,” she said. “Nobody.” They unlocked the door and strutted out, laughing. Elena stood alone in the bathroom, trembling, staring at her reflection through a fog of tears. Her hair, her comfort, was gone.

Her identity felt ripped away. Her chest tightened with a painful truth: They broke me. But they didn’t know one thing. Elena Ward wasn’t a nobody. Elena Ward wasn’t powerless.

Elena Ward wasn’t finished. She wiped her tears, breathing unevenly, staring at the ruined girl in the mirror. The daughter of District Attorney Jonathan Ward, the man who tore down gangs, exposed corrupt politicians, and dismantled criminal networks, was now standing in that bathroom, hair shaved, eyes full of fire. And she whispered the first words of the storm that was coming. “They’re going to regret this.”
