So did everyone else. The first student who had stepped forward held his phone carefully in both hands. My name's Aaron. He was 21 wearing a Crown Bridge engineering sweatshirt. Daniel looked at him.

He recorded the incident. Aaron swallowed. Most of it. Why? The question landed harder than Daniel intended.

Aaron glanced toward Maya. His face reddened. At first he looked down because everybody else was. The confession sat heavily in the room. No one laughed.

Aaron continued. I thought it was just another argument. Then Brooke grabbed her. Maya watched him. There was something painfully honest in his shame.

He had not become brave in time to stop what happened. But he was trying not to stay silent afterward. Daniel held out his hand. Can I see it? Aaron gave him the phone.

Brooke stepped forward. He could have edited that. Aaron's head snapped up. I didn't. Brooke looked at Daniel.

You don't know that. A woman near the window spoke. Mine shows the same thing. She stepped into the open. Her name was Rachel Morgan, 24, a nursing student Maya recognized from one of the science labs.

Rachel held up her phone. I started recording when Brooke blocked Maya's path. Brooke stared at her. You were filming me? Rachel's expression tightened.

Yes. Why? Rachel looked toward Maya. Same reason he was. Her voice dropped.

I thought it was entertainment. Maya felt that sentence more deeply than she expected. Rachel took a breath. Then Evan shoved her. She walked over and handed Daniel the phone.

I should have said something then. Maya did not answer. Not because she wanted Rachel punished by silence. Because she was still trying to understand how many people had watched her humiliation become something casual. Walter seemed to understand.

He said quietly, showing the truth now matters. Rachel nodded, but her eyes stayed on Maya. It should have mattered sooner. That was the first real apology Maya had heard from anyone in the crowd. Not polished, not comfortable, real.

Daniel reviewed the videos while another security staff member brought over a tablet connected to the campus system. The crowd remained in place. Nobody wanted to leave now. Brooke noticed. What is this?

A trial? Walter looked at her. No. He paused. A trial gives people time to prepare.

Brooke's face tightened. Daniel turned the tablet around. Security footage is up. Everyone closest to him leaned in. The first angle came from a ceiling camera near the cafeteria entrance.

No audio. It did not need any. Brooke approached Maya's table. Maya stood. Brooke blocked her.

Maya moved left. Brooke moved left. Maya moved right. Brooke followed. Then the cup went over.

Brooke grabbed the front of Maya's jacket. Maya removed the hand and stepped back. Evan moved in. The shove was unmistakable. Maya hit the edge of the table.

A sound moved through the crowd. Not surprise. Recognition. They had seen it with their own eyes. But seeing it again, framed cleanly and without Brooke's commentary, made denial feel impossible.
