Morrison looked up.
Renee closed her eyes briefly.
Jalen suddenly seemed less afraid.
Holloway looked as though somebody had removed all sound from the park.
Ruiz took the credential case and examined it.
“Agent Brooks?”
“Yes.”
“You’re active?”
“Yes.”
“Baltimore Field Office?”
“Yes.”
“What happened?”
Isaiah looked toward Jalen.
“Your officer put hands on a fifteen-year-old over a skateboard.”
Holloway immediately stood.
“That is not what happened.”
Isaiah looked at him.
“You grabbed him.”
“He resisted a lawful detention.”
“He was sitting on the ground when I reached you.”
“He assaulted me.”
Isaiah’s expression remained flat.
“I stopped you from escalating force against my minor brother.”
“You tackled a police officer.”
“I controlled an armed officer who reached toward his belt after I told him to stay away from a child.”
Holloway’s face reddened.
“You came flying at me.”
“Yes.”
That simple answer surprised everyone.
Isaiah continued.
“Because you had just thrown my brother onto concrete.”
Ruiz raised one hand.
“Everybody stop.”
It was the first useful order since she arrived.
She asked dispatch for a supervisor.
Then she looked toward the phones surrounding the bowl.
“How many people recorded this?”
At least eight hands went up.
Jalen pointed toward Holloway.
“His camera was on.”
Holloway glanced down.
The red indicator on his body camera was visible.
For the first time, Isaiah smiled without humor.
“Good.”
Lieutenant Dana Whitcomb arrived eleven minutes later.
She knew Isaiah’s name before reaching the bowl because dispatch had already run the federal credential through standard verification channels. The FBI’s Baltimore duty desk confirmed Special Agent Isaiah Brooks was active and off duty. It also confirmed he was authorized to carry concealed under federal law, though no firearm was visible because Isaiah had locked his service weapon in the vehicle before skating.
Whitcomb separated everyone immediately.
Holloway went to one side of the recreation office.
Isaiah, Jalen, and Renee went to another.
Ruiz began collecting witness names.
The skatepark shut down temporarily.
Isaiah called one person.
His supervisor, Supervisory Special Agent Naomi Pierce, answered on the second ring.
“What did you break?”
Isaiah looked at Jalen.
“Not funny today.”
Pierce became serious immediately.
“What happened?”
Isaiah gave her the short version.
When he reached the sentence I put a Riverton officer on the ground, Pierce became silent.
“Are you hurt?”
“No.”
“Your brother?”
“Bruised. I think.”
“The officer?”
“Appears okay.”
