The board voted that night to suspend Cynthia from all committee duties pending the criminal investigation. The bylaws did not allow Gerald to remove an elected director unilaterally, but her access to association management systems, volunteer schedules, and clubhouse storage could be restricted.

Cynthia walked out before the vote finished.

The pink SUV accelerated hard enough leaving the lot that several residents turned to watch.

Package theft stopped for eighteen days.

Then Tasha’s delivery app notified her that a box had arrived.

She had been expecting it.

So had the sheriff’s investigator assigned to the neighborhood reports.

The package looked ordinary.

That was intentional.

Tasha did not know every detail of how investigators and the delivery-security team had prepared the evidence package, and she deliberately did not ask. She knew only that it was a lawful, commercially prepared tracking-and-marking parcel intended to document unauthorized removal without injuring anyone.

It sat beside the Reed doormat shortly before sunset.

Damon and Avery were at Tasha’s sister’s house.

Tasha had also left the neighborhood.

The doorbell camera remained on.

At 6:13, the bright pink SUV appeared at the end of the driveway.

Cynthia parked diagonally near the curb.

She was wearing a fitted cobalt-blue top and matching blue pants with white sneakers. Her long blonde hair fell over both shoulders, and for a second she simply stood beside the SUV looking toward the Reed porch.

Then she started walking.

The doorbell camera captured the entire approach.

No board badge.

No clipboard.

No note.

No attempt to call.

Cynthia walked directly up the brick-paver path.

She reached the porch and bent over the package.

A small black evidence device was visible on top, though from Cynthia’s position it apparently looked like part of the shipment.

She examined the shipping label.

Then she lifted the box.

For one brief second, Cynthia looked directly toward the doorbell camera.

She did not put the package back.

She carried it away.

The scene lasted only a few seconds.

Cynthia stepped off the porch with both arms around the box, crossed the driveway, and headed directly toward the pink SUV.

That was the exact moment residents would later replay hundreds of times.

The blonde HOA vice president in blue.

The stolen package.

The bright pink vehicle waiting only yards away.

Cynthia reached the driver’s side.

Then the evidence package activated.

A huge burst of bright pink marking powder erupted beside her and the SUV.

Cynthia jerked backward.

The box dropped.

For a moment almost nothing was visible except a vivid pink cloud spreading across the driveway.

Powder coated the front of her blue outfit, drifted across the side of the SUV, and hung in the warm sunset air.

Cynthia shouted.

The doorbell camera recorded everything.

There was nothing subtle left.

The woman who had spent months insisting she was protecting Cypress Haven from porch pirates was standing beside her bright pink SUV, covered in bright pink evidence marker from a parcel she had just carried off someone else’s porch.

The irony would become irresistible online later.

In the moment, it was simply evidence.

Cynthia tried brushing powder from her clothing.

She looked toward the Reed house.
